Strategy

Opportunity

GRA works across four areas of community development: training young leaders, community support, translation and production, and trauma healing. The organization acquired a long, narrow property for its new headquarters, creating an opportunity to bring these programs together while allowing room for future growth.

The first phase needed to accommodate the organization’s immediate needs while establishing a framework for future buildings, infrastructure, and expansion.

Response

IDD developed a masterplan that organizes the site into phased zones, allowing GRA to grow over time. Phase 1 occupies the northern portion of the property and centers around the main organization building, housing administration, JISM, and translation and production.

Future space is reserved for the trauma healing department directly south of the main building, while the southern portion of the site accommodates a future organizational building and supporting infrastructure.

The masterplan also anticipates GRA’s future acquisition of the neighboring property, envisioning it as a conference center connected to the main campus through the existing access road.

Sustainability

Sustainability is integrated through both resource infrastructure and long-term planning. A field of solar panels is planned to help provide electricity for the campus, while water storage and wastewater treatment and disposal systems are distributed throughout the site.

The phased masterplan also allows the organization to develop only what is needed at each stage, while reserving space for future growth without requiring the campus to be completely redesigned.

Impact

The masterplan gives GRA a flexible home for its diverse programs while creating a clear vision for future growth. By bringing leadership, community support, training, translation, and healing into one connected campus, the headquarters can become a place that supports both GRA’s daily work and its long-term mission of community transformation.
