Streams of Living Water

Strategy

Opportunity

Streams of Living Water equips leaders across Africa to create positive change in their communities through human development and leadership training. After purchasing an aging four-story building in Heliopolis, the organization needed a place that could support its growing work while giving new life to the existing property.

The challenge was to transform the building into a space that could accommodate the many ways the organization works—from welcoming guests to training leaders and creating media.

Response

IDD reimagined the building as a simple, modern, and welcoming headquarters that reflects the organization’s identity.

The design brings together a guesthouse, offices, studio, training rooms, and meeting spaces, with each area shaped around the specific needs of the people who use it. Rather than treating the building as a collection of separate rooms, the design creates a cohesive environment that supports both focused work and meaningful interaction.

IDD also served as the Owner’s Representative, staying involved throughout the process to help ensure the design was carried through into the finished space.

Sustainability

By revitalizing an existing four-story building, the project gives new purpose to an established structure rather than replacing it. The design improves the building’s condition while adapting its spaces to serve the organization’s long-term needs.

Impact

The transformation gives Streams of Living Water more than a new headquarters—it gives them a home for their mission.

Today, the building provides a place to welcome people, train leaders, create, collaborate, and build relationships. Every space is designed around the work they do and the people they serve, creating an environment that is practical, inviting, and ready for the organization’s next chapter.
