Scudder Memorial Hospital has a long-standing commitment to providing accessible, affordable, and high-quality healthcare to its community. As the hospital grows, it needed a clear vision for expanding its facilities, improving patient care, supporting its staff, and adapting to the changing needs of healthcare in India. 

Response

IDD worked alongside SMH staff to develop a long-term masterplan for the hospital’s growth and modernization. The plan considers new clinical and non-clinical facilities, improved patient flow, more comfortable spaces, and dedicated environments for staff and student training.

Rather than creating a fixed blueprint, the master plan establishes a cohesive framework for future development, including design principles, materials, and planning strategies that can be revisited as the hospital’s needs and priorities evolve.

Sustainability

Sustainability is integrated into the plan through design strategies that aim to reduce environmental impact and long-term operating costs. Future development prioritizes efficient facilities, responsible resource use, and sustainable design approaches that support the well-being of both patients and staff.

Impact

The masterplan gives SMH a clear yet adaptable path for the future, helping the hospital make thoughtful decisions as it grows.
