Pathways
Creating a shared place where people, organizations, and ideas can connect, grow, and make a lasting impact.
Strategy
Opportunity
Since opening its affiliate office—locally registered as Petram—in Phnom Penh in 2018, EMI Cambodia has grown through the development of young professionals, partnerships with like-minded organizations, and an expanding range of services, including detailed design, construction management, and WASH/community development.
The creation of Pathways represents the next step in this journey: a place that can support Petram’s continued growth while creating new opportunities for collaboration, community engagement, and discipleship work across Phnom Penh and the wider region.
Response
Pathways is designed as a multi-use building that brings together public spaces, tenant organizations, community gathering areas, and the Petram office.
The ground floor forms the main point of connection, with reception, building management, retail space, interior courtyards, parking, and a research and storage lab. The first floor is focused on community engagement, offering flexible tenant spaces, an auditorium for up to 200 people, breakout rooms, and a café that supports fellowship, training, conferences, and informal connection.
The second floor provides a collaborative home for Petram, accommodating up to 60 staff members and guests through open workstations, private offices, gathering areas, and spaces for discipleship. Above, the rooftop extends the building’s communal life with green spaces, varied seating, a kitchen and restaurant, and a playground for families.
Sustainability
Pathways makes efficient use of a shared, multi-use building by bringing workplaces, community facilities, tenant spaces, and gathering areas together under one roof. Interior courtyards, atriums, and rooftop greenery introduce natural elements into the building, while flexible spaces allow the building to serve different users and activities over time.
Impact
Pathways will provide EMI Cambodia with a stronger foundation for growth while creating a welcoming environment for collaboration, learning, fellowship, and service. By bringing professionals, partner organizations, community members, and families into one connected place, the building can help cultivate relationships and expand opportunities for lasting impact in Cambodia and throughout the region.
